Can't Buy Everything

Found these maybe worn once or twice Naturalizer peep toe pumps (trust me, not to sound conceited, these shoes looked better on me than on the rack) for $9.74 ($12.99 - 25%), but had to pass them up. I literally debated for 5 whole minutes on whether I should add them to my wardrobe or not (I daydreamed about how it would look so sophisticated with a sleek black dress), but I ended up walking away........without them.

Sure, these shoes retail for about 5-6 times the price the thrift store was selling them for, but if I were to buy everything I came across in the thrift store I'd be a hoarder and filing for bankruptcy. Haha!

Tip: Sort out your basket or cart full of thrift store gems BEFORE you get to the cashier. There are some things you CAN go without. :)

Maya Angelou Book Find

There is not a trip that I take to the thrift store that does not involve me combing through literary gems (and not so gem). Earlier this week I found Maya Angelou's "Letter to My Daughter" for $1.49 ($1.99 - 25%) and could not pass it up. I'm happy to be adding it to my book collection!

Tip: The best books are found in thrift stores near universities.

Brand new condition with even the spine intact.

Earlier this week I was perusing around my favorite thrift store and found these board games in mint condition and could not pass them up! Had I bought these board games on Amazon, I would have paid over $130.00! Eeek! I'm elated that I was able to add 4 games to my husband and I's ever growing collection of board games for under $10.00 (bought each game for 25% off listed price). Who said you had to spend big bucks to have fun with loved ones?

Tip: Always check to see if all the pieces are in the board game boxes before you purchase it. Sometimes an insignificant piece might be missing, but it's still worth to buy. Lastly, have fun! Turn off the TV and play some good 'ol board games!

A Whole "Lot" of Goodness

According to Instagram I posted this photo 99 weeks ago.
All of the items I had purchased on this particular day were new or worn once and I got everything for under $20.00 (due to 25% discount)! In this lot you'll find a Kenneth Cole Reaction vest (that alone retails for over $60.00), patent leather Steve Madden shoes (retails for over $60 as well), a trendy crossover messenger bag, and scarf. I still remember being completely stoked after finding these particular treasures!

What? A $4 J. Crew Cardigan? Tell me More!

According to Instagram I posted this photo 73 weeks ago.

When I saw this J. Crew coral cardigan for $4.00 I could not pass it up especially since J. Crew "anything" usually retails from $50.00 and above! I paired it with a black, white, and grey leopard print shirt (not from thrift store) and black slacks. Not too shabby, eh?

"Clutch" for the New Year

According to Instagram I posted this photo 39 weeks ago.

Found this cute sparkly clutch for less than $3.99 (because of 25% discount) and decided to buy it for the {New Year's celebrations--2014}. Apparently you can shine bright like a diamond for less than $3.99!

Tip: Finding decent clutch bags at a thrift store is like finding a needle in a haystack (more so than any other item), but keep digging; you'll find something!

About Me

Some people take pride in buying designer labels and expensive items and I take pride in finding great deals.

Thrift shopping requires a whole lot of patience, but if patience is one of your virtues, then you'll find treasure after treasure!

Hello! I've been thrifting since the 1990s and am proud of it! Many fond memories were made in Maryland-area thrift stores with my childhood best friend, Virnalisa. It was a labyrinth of old and new treasures. And it still holds true to this day.

Fast forward to 2014, I am now more in love with thrift stores than ever. My heart races of excitement every time I step inside a thrift store. I buy watches, purses, articles of clothing, shoes, books, board games, household items, craft supplies, seasonal decor, and the list goes on and on.

I wanted to start this blog to share the treasures I have bought because sometimes it's just "too good to be true!"

Join me on my thrifting adventures!

Note: I will be sharing other frugal (non-thrift) adventures too! Who doesn't want to save money?

"When I Was Puerto Rican" with French Onion Soup

According to Instagram I posted this photo 20 weeks ago.

The other day I bought 4 ceramic soup bowls (minus the vegetarian French onion soup inside) and Esmeralda Santiago's book, "When I Was Puerto Rican (a great read)," all for under $5.00!

Tip: Always be sure to check out the book section in thrift stores for great reads. You'd be surprised on what titles you find there.

Bright Blue Summer Shoes

According to Instagram I posted this photo 18 weeks ago.

The "flashback" in this post's title means that it is an item I bought over a year ago and had shared with my social networks, but not on this blog.

I bought these Merona (Target brand) bright blue summer shoes at my favorite local thrift store for less than $5.00. Aren't they adorable? They are so cute, playful, and surprisingly comfortable!

Tip: Be sure to wipe your thrift store bought shoes with Clorox wipes before wearing them.
